As a Christian Ministry, The Backyard Bard relies on the partnership and support of the local Christian community.
We see prayer and financial support as partnership because it is making a real contribution to bringing the stories of the Bible to the people of our country.
One way of being in partnership with The Backyard Bard is by being a 'Backyard Bard Benefactor'.
You can be part of a team of people who give financially for specific needs throughout the year. These needs could be:
- for equipment for The Backyard Bard to continue our ministry
- to subsidise churches which cannot pay for the cost of storytelling performances
- to subsidise people who cannot pay for training courses
You will occasionally receive an email with a list of things for you to consider contributing towards.
If there is something on that list that you would like to give money to, then you have the opportunity to make your donation.
You can subsribe to the 'Benefactor' email list by clicking here (first you need to log in).
Alternatively you could email info@thebackyardbard.com with "Benefactor" in the subject line to subscribe to this email list.
You can even stay up to date RSS or Atom feeds.

Lapel Mic and lighting

G'day Benefactors,
I thank God for your support in being part of this list.
I will be sending out emails to this list every now and again with requests for financial contributions for equipment, storytelling performances or subsidies for people for courses. You need not act on any of the emails. You are at liberty to simply read the email and prayerfully decide if there are any things you would like to contribute to.
You can give for part of the amount or the whole if you wish. Please contact me to let me know which you would like to give to. You can transfer money by cheque, bank transfer or PayPal.
Today I have two equipment requests.
Lapel Mic
Over the past few months, after doing lots of single person shows, I've decided that we need our own lapel mic. Often we go to places where the mic we are given is of inferior quality or they can only give us a hand-held mic or nothing at all.
The one I'm planning on buying also has a camera receiver which means that we can hook it directly up to our video camera to record movies with much higher quality sound (which has always been a problem for us).
Sennheiser ew 112-p G2 - Camera Set
Budget: $900
Suggested contributions: $100 - $200 - $500 - whole amount
Lighting
Since we are constantly performing at different venues, more often than not, we are performing in venues or churches which were not designed for theatre performances and the lighting doesn't suit. We need some simple lights that we can transport with us so that we can have adequate lighting for people to see our faces.
2 x Secondhand 640 Watt Fresnel Lights with barndoors (up to $190 each)
1 x Lighting stand - Budget $160
That's it, please contact me if you wish to contribute to any of these.
Thanks,
Rob
